The Augusta Land and Coastcare GroupĀ – restoring the Augusta Landscape –

Our group was formed after the Community Nursery and registered with Landcare Australia in 2011.

SinceĀ then we have been restoring the Blackwood River Foreshore, natural drainage systems between the town of Augusta and the river, i.e. Duckpond and Frogpond, parts of Turner CaravanĀ Park wetlands, Redman Brook in Flinders and various sites along the coast between Flinders and the Leeuwin Lighthouse.

In between all of that we carry out occasional weed removal at Pioneer Reserve and other sites.

Future projects are chosen in consultation with the AMRshire.
After that we suggest a range of indigenous plants suitable for that area to the Community Nursery for propagation.

This process can take 18-24 months before any planting is undertaken.

We are fortunate to be supported in many ways by the AMR shire and only work on lands where the Shire is the legal land manager.

Our group meets every Thursday morning and can be contacted via
Gudrun on 0413381852.

On the first Tuesday of each month we turn into the Friends of Cape Leeuwin (FOCL).
In that role we undertake similar works under the auspices of the MRBTA at the Leeuwin Lighthouse precinct.
