The Augusta Community Nursery volunteers have worked in partnership with the Augusta River & Coastcare Group, and the Shire of Augusta Margaret River for over a decade now, with the aim of growing native plants to revegetate area’s round Augusta following the removal of weeds, and ensuring the preservation of the beautiful Augusta native landscape.
On Mondays, the group meets at the Nursery site on the Leeuwin Lions compound where they propagate plants from both cuttings, division and seeds, all locally sourced, based on requirements made by the Shire and the Augusta River & Coastcare Group on the plants that they intend to plant the following year.
They also grow plants for the Leeuwin Lions, to sell to their customers, and for MRBTA and Capes Foundation in the Leeuwin Lighthouse revegetation project.
Over the past year approx. 3000 native plants have been grown for all the above groups
The Nursery receives much appreciated support from the Leeuwin Lions and the AMR Shire.
